President's Report

Hello, APICS Fox Valley Members.

We are fast approaching the New Year which means we are halfway through the program year. In January we will try something new. With the help of the Madison Chapter we will be offering a webinar on LEAN processes and simulations. In February we hope to host a PDM on UW Oshkosh’s campus on ERP systems and Supply Chain Management.

Webinar PDM

The Board of Directors has been working with the Madison Chapter on offering a Professional Development Meeting in a webinar format. As January approaches we hope to have more information on the January PDM. I want to thank the Madison Chapter for including us in the webinar. Because our chapter has not offered a webinar style PDM we wanted to partner with a chapter that has in order to better understand the requirements. We appreciate your understanding as we explore more options to offering professional development.

Board of Director Nominations

In the coming months you will receive an invitation to nominate someone for the 2018-2019 Board of Directors. I urge anyone interested in becoming a leader in the chapter to work with the nomination committee on submission of names. If you are interested in becoming a board member you may also contact me. I will be happy to review the duties for any position you are interested in serving.

Certification Review Courses

The reconfigured CPIM courseware is now available. As many of you know the CPIM has been undergoing a major rewrite as APICS tries to realign the CPIM educational system to maintain the integrity of the certification by shorten the time required to complete the certification exams. Instead of the five exams there are only two, one basic supply chain management and one exam that will cover MRP, DSP, ECO, and SMR. The old versions of the exams have a phase out date of December 31, 2018 so they are still be available for anyone still wishing to complete the five version of the CPIM.

We will be offering the classroom version of CPIM part 1 starting in February 2018. Please watch for a letter from Fox Valley Technical College concerning the offering. We will also post the information to our website once we have final confirmation of class dates. The part 1 course will be followed by a CPIM part 2 course offering.

Merry Christmas,

David A. Rollins CPIM, CLTD
