President's Report

Hello Fox Valley Chapter members,

We are half way through the program year. I invite everyone to carefully consider becoming a member of the board of directors for the program year beginning in July.  Please watch your email for notification from the nomination committee. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested please respond to the email. The board members are a key to the success of our chapter and we truly appreciate a diverse board and the opportunity for growth that new perspectives bring, so please consider joining the 2018-2019 board of directors.

The new CPIM is now in full swing. The two part certification process will save our members money over the previous five exam version. If you were in the process of becoming certified and have passed three exams, you may want to finish the five exam version.  Finishing the last two exams would cost $2280 for the online courseware and exam fees while the cost of taking the part II course and exam would be $2290.  If you have not completed the CPIM Part I the total cost of certification would be $4,180 for the online course including the cost of the two exams. The new version of the CPIM will save everyone money and time. In pursuing a certification it really boils down to, what will you get out of it? I suggest looking on the website payscale.com. Search for CPIM to see key statistics of the certification. The Board of Directors is currently working with Fox Valley Technical College to offer spring courses in Appleton for CPIM certification please watch your email for updates.

In January the chapter had its first webinar for a PDM. We were fortunate to be able to work with the Madison Chapter who hosted the webinar. The opportunity provided us with insights into the technology used for hosting webinars. Hopefully we will be able to incorporate the technology for future webinars hosted by the chapter.

February we will be hosting a PDM on the UW Oshkosh campus. Joe Van Derven of Sartori Company will be providing a presentation on Enterprise Resource Planning systems use to integrate the management of a company’s supply chain. Sartori Cheese is a fourth generation family business and has several firsts in its operations, for instance it was the first company to export cheese to Italy, and they are also on the leading edge in research. Joe’s presentation will highlight how information technology focuses on supply chain management processes to help improve overall organizational effectiveness and lower costs to increase profits.
